PERSONAL STATEMENT

Dr. Isabelle Brock has dedicated her professional career to the research and understanding of connective tissue issues, aiming to improve the quality of life and provide access to care for her clients.

As the President and CEO of QoLify and the NovaCombian Research Institute, Dr. Brock is a visiting scientist at the department of medical and molecular genetics at the IU School of Medicine where she is establishing the center of excellence for Ehlers Danlos Syndromes clinic and performing research in to EDS and its comorbidities.

As advisor for the Centers and Networks of Excellence Program for The Ehlers-Danlos Society, she has dedicated herself to establishing networks around the globe to give patients with EDS better access to care. Dr. Brock has co-founded Clinical Paradigms a clinic for people with complex connective tissue diseases.

Dr. Brock is the chair of the Pain management group and a member of the Allergy, Immunology Working Group of the International Consortium on EDS and its Comorbidities.

She is a member in the AHEAD Coalition (treating pediatric pain) and the ‘Breaking Down Barriers’ Initiative of the EDS Society.

Dr. Brock currently serves as Vice-President for the Research & Study Group for EDS (GERSED) in France and is a member of the Belgian GERSED. In addition to serving as the Chief Scientific Officer at the EDS Initiative – Deutschland, where she spearheads the committee for producing the German guidelines on EDS, she is a member of the scientific committee of the Foundation for Research & Advocacy in Muscle Pain Education (FRAME) and formerly held positions as Lead Scientist at the Hospital Hotel Dieu de Paris, and at Ellasanté, Paris.

Further education includes certification in diagnosis and treatment for Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) from Paris Est Créteil University and certification in Ayurvedic Medicine for Medical Professionals from the Institute of Ayurveda & Alternative Medicine, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. She is currently earning a degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Master of Science of Oriental Medicine Program at Pacific College. Further accomplishments include her having co-created and taught tele-courses on EDS for medical professionals and spearheaded the establishment of three clinics dedicated to helping patients with EDS and its comorbidities. Dr. Brock is the co-author of “Transforming Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome: A Global Vision of the Disease – The Epigenetic Revolution – Emergencies”.

She has produced two medical devices (patent pending) for the treatment of proprioception as well as cortisol deficiencies.

Uniquely combines a research institute and a platform to provide comprehensive services and products to the EDS (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) community. Qolify opened a clinic for patients with connective tissue diseases incorporating different medical and paramedical specialties in New York City.

GERSED is an association of physicians researching, studying, diagnosing and treating EDS.

International Clinical Project Manager/Lead Researcher for defining diagnostic criteria and treatment options for EDS. Design and implement Phase, I, II, and III projects. Responsible for drafting: study protocols, case report forms and guidelines for clinical practice. Train physicians in treatment and diagnosis of EDS. Organized, presented and facilitated, “The Annual EDS International French Symposium” (2015-2019) and the “Annual National French Symposium” (2018, 2019).

Ellasanté, Chief of Research, 2016 – 2017, Paris, France

Ellasanté is a comprehensive specialty clinic for the treatment of EDS. Chief of research, physicians’ assistant to 10 MDs in the Ehlers-Danlos clinic. Screened all incoming patients, assisted in developing treatment plans based upon surveying the entirety of the current research in the field. Responsible for coordinating and publishing research.

Hospital Hôtel Dieu de Paris, Lead Scientist, 2014 – 2016, Paris, France

Lead Scientist/physicians’ assistant to 6 MDs in the EDS clinic. Researched and updated the diagnostic criteria and screening tools for EDS. Partnered with Orthopédie Vlamynck (the primary corporation for the treatment of dys-proprioception caused by EDS). Measured the clinical results of compressive medical gear/garments on the mitigation of symptoms and quality of life for EDS patients.  2015 – 2019
